Jana Hall
Jana was raised in Ashland, Kentucky where she and Tom were high school sweethearts. They married after college graduation and began a 30-year Air Force adventure. Jana received her master’s degree in communication in 1981. She taught basic public speaking or intro to human communication at ten colleges/universities for twenty years as the family often moved for Tom’s Air Force career. In 2002 she was hired as the Director of Christian Education by their church. She set to work taking courses to become a Certified Christian Educator in 2004.
When Jana and Tom moved to Pittsburgh in 2005 she had to adjust to winters which she strongly disliked. Intent on moving back to the south in 2008, God had a surprise for them by calling them to First Presbyterian Church of Pittsburgh. God melted Jana’s heart and gave her a love for the city. She is an avid Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates fan. She is very proud of the resurgence of Pittsburgh.
Jana describes Faith Development as daily following Jesus Christ. Eugene Peterson calls it “spending our lives apprenticed to our master, Jesus Christ. We are in a growing, learning relationship always. A disciple is a learner at the work site of a craftsman. We do not acquire information about God but skills in faith.”
Jana is thankful to be the mother of two adult sons and grandmother of four beautiful girls.
