Denny Window

This upper section shows Michael, the Angel of the Resurrection, signaling the dead to rise at Christ's second coming. He holds a trumpet in his left hand. In keeping with the romanticism of the time, Tiffany's heroic angel is dressed in the chain mail suit of a crusading knight.

And here on this mountain, God will banish the pall of doom hanging over all peoples, the shadow of doom darkening all nations. Yes, he’ll banish death forever. And God will wipe the tears from every face. He’ll remove every sign of disgrace from his people, wherever they are. Yes! God says so!

Also at that time, people will say, ‘Look at what’s happened! This is our God! We waited for him and he showed up and saved us! This God, the one we waited for! Let’s celebrate, sing the joys of his salvation. God’s hand rests on this mountain!

Isaiah 25:7-9, MSG

The original window Angel of the Resurrection is now displayed in the Indianapolis Museum of Art. "Awake Thou That Sleepest. Arise from the Dead and Christ Shall Give Thee Light" from Ephesians 5:14 is inscribed on the original window that was commissioned in 1901 for the First Meridian Heights Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis, by Mary Lord Harrison in memory of her husband, President Benjamin Harrison.

The lower section shows a weeping Mary Magdalene standing outside the cave-tomb on the first Easter morning, looking for Jesus’ body. As she stoops down to look in, she sees two Angels in white. The two Angels tell her, “He is risen, look where they laid Him.” As she listens, her sorrow and despair yield to joy.

On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them… "Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: “The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.”  Then they remembered His words.
